Wii’s opera browser releases

A beta trial version of the opera browser for the Wii is now available for download from the Wii shop, a final version will be released in March 2007 and will be free to use until June 2007 where it will need to be purchased for 500 Wii points ($5), the browser supports flash and website’s such as youtube display correctly, it supports AJAX scripts like google maps. Eurogamer have properly got to grips with the new browser.

Also the Wii’s news channel could launch on January 27th.

360 warranty exteneded

Any of you that have bought a 360 recently can expect some good news Microsoft is extending all 360 warranties from 90 days to 1 year however if it’s allready a year old, it won’t make a difference.

Customers  who have already paid for repairs while in this period will be reimbursed. This will be automatically be distributed within ten weeks.

“Effective today (December 22), the one year warranty is now the standard for all Xbox 360 consoles. Customers that experience hardware issues with their Xbox 360 within one year of purchase will have their consoles repaired at no cost. Moreover, the new warranty policy is retroactive, so consumers that may have already paid for out-of-warranty Xbox 360 repair within one year of the console’s purchase will be eligible for reimbursement of their console repair charges”


325,000 Wii’s sold on EU launch weekend

Nintendo Europe has updated their sales figures, of the Wii and has sold 325,000 units on the two days of launch, also 240,000 copies of Zelda was sold which means 74% of Wii owners have Zelda.

Laurent Fischer, Marketing Director for Nintendo Europe commented: “Wii has become an overnight success in Europe with people of all ages rushing out to get their hands on the console. Even at this early stage it is clear that Wii is delivering on its promise to expand the gaming market, with a uniquely diverse audience all keen to experience the sensation for themselves.

He then goes onto clarify supply issues.
“For those who were unable to buy Wii during the launch weekend, rest assured more stock is already on its way and we are doing everything possible to ensure that a steady supply of Wii units is shipped to stores across Europe throughout December and into 2007.

It was Europes Wii day today as more than 50,000 Wii’s where sold thats more than 1 Wii sold a second!

iPhone rumours, is Apple going to try and dominate phones?

Kevin rose leaking information on the Apple phone, though they are plenty of rumours swirling around, Kevin rose founder of technology news website Digg has been reliable in the past he leaked information on the iPod nano’s release people said he was bullshitting and … what do you know 4 days later the nano comes out. However the rumours of the iPhone have been around since 2002 nearly 5 years and no phone has been released. Maybe after five years of rumours apple thought maybe we should make an iPhone. It’s date is in January.. Apparently if the source get court he would almost certainly be violating his non disclosure agreement and would be sacked so good luck source.
